Dan Benevento is a data visualization consultant and trainer with a passion for using healthcare data to save the world. A black belt in the use and application of Tableau, Dan has collaborated with IT teams at leading companies and organizations nationwide to build data bases and create hundreds of time-saving, high-impact reports and dashboards. His interactive dashboards and reports custom designed for leaders in all healthcare sectors have streamlined medical procedures, lowered costs, and made patients safer. The Tableau curriculum Dan designed and built shortens the learning curve for new practitioners, and ensures that current users stay up to date on data visualization best practices. Dan holds an A.B. in Social Studies from Harvard University. His passionate devotion to world-saving through healthcare data also extends to climbing cliffs, surfing waves, strumming guitars, and savoring fancy cheeses. (Though an expert multi-tasker, he does not usually do all of these simultaneously.) Katherine Rowell is co-founder and principal of HealthDataViz, a Boston firm that specializes in helping healthcare organizations organize, design, and present visual displays of data to inform their decisions and stimulate effective action. A great book on using Tableau in a health care setting

This is a great book on using Tableau in a health care setting. It covers all the basics of Tableau and works best getting analysts who are new to Tableau up to speed on the platform. The datasets used in the examples are available from their website so new users can follow along to make sure they know what they are doing. The book tops out around the intermediate level though so if you are an advanced user your skill will probably already be beyond what it covered in the book.

This book is provides the reader with a good understanding Tableau for healthcare and here's why:

* Step by step instructions with the fine points of how to create really great graphs is like no other book -- great approach to presenting the material
* You can open the book to any chapter and be able to create the chart type from start to finish
* Love the HDVIZOOM summary at the end of each chapter
* You can download the data from the HDV website for all of the examples in the book
* Inclusion of summary best practices is terrific -- because the tool is never to the total solution -- you also need to understand data visualization and this book addresses that

Great Tableau tutorial. Well structured and covers a LOT.

Great book for someone wanting to learn Tableau, and, for more experienced users wanting to up their game. Extremely well documented, very easy to follow, and, very thorough explanations all the way through. The book covers a LOT of ground - highly recommended.
I've been using Tableau for 10 years, and, am a Tableau officially designated Zen Master - I learned quite a few things from this book.
Do not let the "Healthcare" part in the title fool you - the book uses healthcare data, easily understood by everyone, but, all examples and processes are applicable to any industry.
